Meet the Teacher

Mrs. Amy L. Gongaware

 

Education

· Bachelor’s Degree and Certification: Secondary Education: Social Studies 7-12

· Master’s Degree and Certification:  Reading Specialist K-12

· Certification: Elementary Education K-6

· Certification: Principal K-12

 

Experience

· This is my eighteenth year working as a reading specialist and my twenty-first year as a teacher.  My first year of experience as a reading specialist was with another school district working with students in grades six through eight.  Prior to that I was a social studies teacher for grades 10-12 for three years. 

 

· This is my seventeenth year serving as a reading specialist for Norwin.  I have taught various grades ranging from K-6 over the years, and my current focus is on grades kindergarten through fourth at Sheridan Terrace Elementary School. 

 

· I am also serving in a leadership role to supervise and support the reading paraprofessional at Sheridan Terrace Elementary School.  I will be providing professional development, analyzing data, providing recommendations for supporting students’ academic needs, and lesson planning with the reading paraprofessional in order to provide high quality, research-based instruction to our students.
