Kindergarten orientation 
Description: On Monday, August 11, 2025, parents/guardians of incoming kindergarten students come to the school to meet with their child's teacher, principal, and head teacher.  Kids ride the bus, while parents learn everything they need to know about the school and their child's classroom.  Then, parents and students check out the rooms and meet the teachers together. 
 
Nights with the Young Knights 
Description: Young Knights occurs three times a year.  Pre-K students attend evenings sessions at their home elementary school to learn about different kindergarten readiness topics.  This is funded through the United Way. 
 
Back to School Night 
Description: A parent/guardian informational night that allows the second-grade teachers to share classroom routines, procedures, and information about the classroom with families.  This is an opportunity to have an in-person meet-and-greet, as well as answer any questions parents may have about the upcoming school year.

Open House Parent and Family Engagement Meeting 
Description: Open House was held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, for families to meet their child’s teachers and highlight student work during the first month of school. Reading Club uses Open House as a Parent and Family Engagement meeting focused on important beginning of the year documents including the District and Parent Family Engagement Policies, the Home-School Compact, the Right to Know letter

Apple Station Day 
In kindergarten in the fall, students learn about apples and plan a fun day for parents to help students learn more about apples.  They create an apple life cycle using craft materials like tissue paper for blossoms and red beads for apples. They practice graphing as they taste different apple foods and vote on which is their favorite. One more activity is apple tree counting. The parent reads a rhyme where students put some Skittles on a tree. The poem asks students to take some apples from the tree and tell how many are left. The parents really enjoy joining us for this day! 
  
Parent Teacher Conferences: 
Description: K-4 Parent/Teacher Conferences were offered on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Parents/guardians were provided with a checklist prior to conferences to help shape the conversation about their child’s performance and progress.
 
Thanksgiving stations 
Description: In Kindergarten, parents/guardians come in to help students complete Thanksgiving themed activities. The activities are literacy and math focused but connect to Thanksgiving and turkey. Some parents/guardians help the students to make a sight word turkey headband. On each feather of the turkey, students add a current sight word that is being practiced in class. Other parents/guardians help with turkey fingerprint feathers. In this task, students add fingerprints as feathers onto a turkey based on the number being shown on its belly. There is also a retell activity. Students read a mini book about the first Thanksgiving with colors that represent different events. Then, they make a retell bracelet where they add colored beads to match each event. They use these bracelets to retell the story events.  
  
"Grinch Themed Day" in December.  
Description: In Grade 2, parents/guardians are invited into the classroom to work at a station with the kids completing "Grinchy" math and literacy activities.  
 
100th Day Stations 
Description: In Kindergarten, parents/guardians come in to help students complete math activities focused on the number 100.  Some of the stations include a count by 10's headband, where students add dots by groups of ten to make 100 on their headband, and a race to 100 game. For this game, they race with a partner to roll dice, color in 10 frames and make it to the top first. At a snack station, students make a trail mix by counting out ten of ten different snack items. Finally, they work as teams to try to keep a balloon in the air for 100 hits! It's a really fun day for the kids and parents!
